Amazon Compliant Insert Cards

While our Smart Funnels are 100% Amazon, eBay, Walmart and Etsy compliant, you need to ensure that your product insert cards are also Amazon compliant.

We’ve found that the best performing insert cards are ones that do not mention anything to your customers about leaving a product review. Customers are more likely to scan the QR code when the insert card only highlights the special offer or discount.

If you choose to mention leaving product reviews on the insert card, then in order to ensure your insert card is Amazon compliant, make sure to follow these guidelines:

  • Never mention a product review is required in order to redeem your special offer or discount
  • Never mention only positive product reviews are required in order to redeem your special offer or discount
  • Never mention contacting you seperately if your customer had a negative experience instead of leaving a product review
  • Never mention purchasing your products directly from your website instead of on Amazon

Amazon has strict rules around customer communication and review requests. If you include a package insert inside your product, it’s important that your messaging remains neutral and policy-compliant.

Amazon Customer Review Guidelines
Amazon Product Insert Guidelines

Below are best practices to help you design inserts that align with Amazon’s guidelines.

✅ Recommended Best Practices #

1. Use Neutral, Non-Manipulative Language #

Invite feedback in a balanced way. For example:

“We’d appreciate your honest feedback.”

“Let us know how your experience was.”

Avoid language that suggests a preferred outcome.

2. Direct Customers to a Support or Feedback Page #

Including a QR code or short URL that links to:

  • A customer support page
  • A product feedback form
  • A warranty registration page

is generally acceptable when the purpose is customer service or product improvement.

3. Offer Support Without Conditions #

You may provide:

  • Warranty registration
  • Product assistance
  • Setup help
  • Customer service contact information

However, these should never be contingent on leaving a review.

4. Make It Clear Reviews Are Optional #

If you mention reviews, clarify that:

  • Leaving a review is completely voluntary
  • Feedback is appreciated but not required

Customers should never feel pressured or incentivized.

❌ What to Avoid #

To remain compliant with Amazon policy, do not:

1. Incentivize Reviews #

Avoid statements such as:

  • “Leave a 5-star review and receive a free gift.”
  • “Get a refund after posting a review.”

Offering compensation, discounts, or gifts in exchange for reviews is against Amazon policy.

2. Attempt to Filter Reviews #

Do not use language that directs customers differently based on sentiment, such as:

  • “If you loved it, leave us a review. If not, contact us instead.”

This is considered review manipulation and can result in account penalties.

3. Imply a Desired Rating #

Avoid visual cues or messaging that suggest a preferred rating, including:

  • Five-star graphics
  • Star icons placed prominently next to review messaging
  • Smiley faces or exaggerated positive symbols

Even subtle suggestions can be interpreted as encouraging biased reviews.

Why Compliance Matters #

Amazon actively monitors review manipulation and insert messaging. Violations can result in:

  • Listing suppression
  • Review removal
  • Account warnings or suspension

A compliant insert should prioritize:

  • Customer experience
  • Honest feedback
  • Transparent communication

How ReviewScanGo Helps #

ReviewScanGo is designed to help brands collect feedback and engage customers while staying within marketplace guidelines.

You can:

  • Invite honest feedback
  • Provide customer support
  • Deliver promotions separately from review requests
  • Adjust Smart Review logic based on your compliance preferences

If you’re unsure whether your insert language is compliant, we recommend reviewing Amazon’s most current Communication and Review Policies.
